Last Open Day of the Year
Saturday 2nd December is the last of our open Saturday's for 2023, as well as the Sketching Nature Workshop in the morning from 10am -12, we are making it an open invitation for members of the Hawkesbury Community Arts Workshop as well as the public to drop in and celebrate the end of the year with afternoon tea... We were going to make it and afternoon/evening event, but 'Light Up Windsor' is also on in the evening from 5-9pm and some would like to be involved in that as well.
Art in the Garden Sketching Nature Workshop
We share our corner block of Campus drive (Piggery Lane) with our Earthcare neighbours, and they have asked the Piggery Artists to do a series of Art Workshops in the Gardens. and I have volunteered to to the first one also on the morning of 2nd December from 10am-12. It will be 'Sketching Nature' using graphite pencils on paper … basically just plein air sketching with an emphasis on just enjoying the experience, if anyone is interested in joining in just contact me... Earthcare are providing lunch with it.
ART IN THE GARDEN WORKSHOP
SKETCHING NATURE WITH PENCIL AND PAPER
THERE IS HAPPINESS IN THE MAKING OF ART.
Art tends towards BALANCE, ORDER, JUDGEMENT, of RELATIVE VALUES, LAWS of
GROWTH, the ECONOMY OF LIVING. (Robert Henri)
Drawing enhances your creativity and activates your brainDrawing actively opens your brain to creative thinking. Developing a sense of imagination helps
stimulate the brain, creating new pathways allowing you to process new ideas and engage in
creative problem-solving. This practice can help you not only create something beautiful but also
apply that same imaginative power and critical thinking skills to your everyday situations.
Drawing is an act of meditation and promotes mindfulnessTaking the time to focus on a sketch allows you to be more mindful of the world around you. an
appreciation of beauty and truth, self inquiry through perceiving, it can help you find a sense ofbalance in your day to day.
Doodling can help you get your mind off of things
Doodling can help induce what scientists call the “flow” state. During the process, you become
fully engaged with the project at hand. This increased concentration can help push away anydistractions or negative thoughts that you may be experiencing
Drawing allows you to communicate better and develop a visual language
Drawing is like learning or practising a new language. Exercising your creativity can help you
express complex thoughts or emotions that you may not be able to find the words for. Developing
this visual language helps you better understand yourself and your own personal thoughts, feelings,
and desires. Through this, it may also help benefit the way you communicate with the world around
you.
Art is therapeutic and an effective form of stress relief
Drawing — and other forms of art — can help you release stress and anxiety. You can draw at
home to boost your imagination and creativity, be more mindful and grounded, and relieve anxious
thoughts.
Don't try to make a good Picture, it is about having an interest in the subject and what makes it
interesting to you.The Artist is learning to See, to Understand, to enjoy

Bus trip
on Tuesday 12th September we had a bus visit to the Piggery, arranged by Nomad Bus Tours, it was a 'Mystery Bus Trip' for about 50 Probus members. I think it was a long day for them as they went to Tizzana Winery, Ebenezer Church, a long lunch at Panthers, a visit to the Secret Garden and then the Piggery. We had a number of enthusiastic visitors... and the Earthcare Centre had people on hand for anyone that wanted to wander through the gardens as well, which has been a popular addition in the past.

Hawkesbury Artists Trail
This year's Hawkesbury Art and Artisans Trail is coming up again at the end of August
This year as well as having the six resident artists at the Piggery we will be joined by some of the artists from the Hawkesbury Community Arts Workshop with their pottery and other crafts. We plan to have displays inside and outside the Piggery.
Our Neighbours at the Hawkesbury Earthcare Centre have been working hard on getting their grounds and gardens in good shape for spring and will be open for visitors as well.
